JoinBrands is an open UGC marketplace where you set the price of each job, creators apply, and the platform adds a fee of 8% to 15% on top, with no subscription required and unlimited usage rights on anything you approve. It is the cheapest way in our ranking to get a creator video made and the one that hands the most work back to you. After going through its pricing page, a dozen help-centre articles, its terms and refund policy, and 289 Trustpilot reviews, our verdict is 3.5 out of 5: the right tool for buying many rough clips fast on a small budget, and the wrong one if you want somebody else to have vetted the creator before you pay.
This is a sponsored review. We sell TikTok and Instagram followers, likes and views, which is a different product. JoinBrands has not reviewed or approved the text. Every price, timer and policy below is taken from JoinBrands’ pricing page, help centre, terms and refund policy, or from named third-party sources, all checked in October 2026, and the criticism is ours. JoinBrands at a glance

- What it is: an open marketplace where brands post a job at a price they choose, creators apply or are invited, and the brand approves, declines or requests changes before paying.
- Price: “$25+” per video on the pricing page. In the campaign builder the default is $60 a video and $15 an image, with a floor of $50 for a video. Posting jobs on TikTok, Instagram, YouTube and Amazon start at $100 with the same $50 floor.
- Subscription: none required. Start-up $99 a month, Pro $299, Max $499, with 10% off annually.
- Fee on top: 15% of every creator payment on the free plan, 12% on Start-up, 10% on Pro, 8% on Max. Plus 3.5% if you pay by card.
- Creators: “4 million” by JoinBrands’ own count. That is sign-ups across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube and Amazon, not a vetted pool. Mostly United States.
- Turnaround: creators have 5 days for images and 10 days for videos once the product arrives. EcomCrew’s testing found about 80% of jobs done within a week.
- Revisions: within the brief; no count is published in the help centre.
- Rights: “unlimited usage rights” on purchased content, Spark Ads and Instagram partnership ad codes included. The terms also let brands and JoinBrands use the content to train AI.
- Refunds: subscriptions, Blast packages and extra content are non-refundable. A regular job is refundable only after it reaches Late Status and you cancel it, and the money goes to your JoinBrands balance, not your card.
- Public ratings: 4.4 on Trustpilot from 289 reviews, 4.7 on G2 from 44, 4.6 on the App Store from 883 ratings of the creator app, 4.2 on Google Play from 198.
- Best for: brands that want twenty rough clips to find a hook, TikTok Shop and Amazon sellers, and anyone with more time than budget.
Our number 1 pick is Billo
If you would rather the platform vetted the creator than do it yourself, Billo sells a finished, rights-included video from $99 with no percentage fee on top, from a pool that is approved before it can take work. For a first batch of videos that has to be usable, it is the simpler route, which is why it ranks first in our comparison.
What JoinBrands is
JoinBrands was founded in 2021 by Leo Limin, who runs it as CEO, with Johan Geuze as CTO and Ian Sells as COO. Its terms are governed from Laramie County, Wyoming. Three months after launch it had 10,000 creators and 1,000 brands, by Tubefilter’s account; today the homepage says “4 million creators” and, in two different places, “100,000+ brands” and “30K+ brands”. Treat all three as marketing numbers. What they tell you is that the pool is large and open, and the brand count is somewhere in the tens of thousands.
The product has grown from a UGC marketplace into a set of ways to buy creator output. Content-only jobs, where you receive a file. Posting jobs, where the creator publishes to TikTok, Instagram, YouTube or an Amazon Influencer storefront and hands you a Spark Ads or partnership ad code. TikTok Shop livestreams at a dollar a minute. Blast campaigns, which are bulk packs of posts at a discount. Retainers for ongoing creators. An affiliate programme. Even an MCP server so you can run campaigns from an AI assistant, and a Shopify integration.
Underneath all of it is one mechanism: you name a price, people apply, you choose. Everything good and bad about JoinBrands follows from that.
How a job works, with the timers
JoinBrands runs every job on a clock, and the help centre publishes each timer. This is the version worth printing out.
- Create the campaign. Pick a content type, write the brief, set the price per job, add the product, choose how the creator gets it. Video jobs default to $60, images to $15.
- Creators apply, or you invite them. The campaign goes into the creator marketplace. You can review profiles, ratings and portfolios, or switch on auto-approval to hire faster. Paid plans add direct outreach to TikTok creators.
- The product moves. Three routes. Shipped by me: you have about 3 business days to ship, then 8 days are allowed for arrival. Reimbursement: the creator buys your product within 48 hours of accepting, or the job cancels itself; you pay them back, plus sales tax at 10% in the US and 15% in Canada, and the shipping cost you entered. Digital: nothing to ship.
- Production. 5 days for images, 10 for videos, counted from the product arriving.
- Platform check. Submitted content goes through a support review of up to 24 business hours.
- Your review. You have 10 days to approve, request changes or decline. If the timer runs out, the content is approved and the creator is paid.
- Payment. Money sits in escrow until approval. For posting jobs the content has to stay live for 14 days before the job completes.
Realistic end to end for a shipped physical product: a day or two to pick a creator, three to ship, up to eight in transit, up to ten in production, a day for the platform check, and your own review. Two to three weeks. For reimbursement jobs, where the creator buys from Amazon or your store, closer to ten days. For a digital product, under a week.
The ten-day approval window is the generous one in this category. Billo gives you three business days before auto-approval. Use the extra room, but still put the date in a calendar, because the help centre’s own answer to “I missed the window” is that the creator has been paid.
Pricing in detail
JoinBrands has three layers of cost, and the pricing page shows only the first.
Layer one is the creator price, which you set. The pricing page says videos from $25 and images from $10. The campaign builder tells a different story: the default is $60 for a video and the minimum you can enter is $50. For posting jobs on TikTok, Instagram, YouTube and Amazon the base is $100, with the same $50 floor. The $25 figure is real only inside Blast packs, which we come to below.
Layer two is the platform fee, a percentage added to every creator payment, which depends on the plan.
| Plan | Monthly | Fee on creator payments | Promo coins per month | Team users | Direct chats |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free (pay as you go) | $0 | 15% | none | none | none |
| Start-up | $99 | 12% | $30 | 1 | 50 |
| Pro | $299 | 10% | $90 | 3 | 250 |
| Max | $499 | 8% | $150 | 10 | 1,000 |
Annual billing takes 10% off. The paid plans also unlock TikTok outreach, where you message creators off-platform with product cards, and 4K delivery. The promo coins are the Promo Wallet: bonus credit that spends like cash on the platform and is removed the moment your subscription ends.
Do the arithmetic before upgrading. Moving from Free to Start-up saves 3 points of fee and gives you $30 of coins, against $99 a month. That breaks even at roughly $2,300 a month of creator spend. Pro breaks even around $4,200 a month. Below those numbers the free plan is the cheaper plan, and the subscriptions mainly buy outreach, seats and a lower fee you are not yet spending enough to feel.
Layer three is everything else. A 3.5% processing fee if you pay by card. Sales tax on reimbursement jobs. Creator level uplifts, explained in the next section, which can double the price of a video. And the product itself, which on reimbursement jobs you buy at full retail from your own store through the creator.
Blast campaigns are the exception to the $50 floor. They are bulk packs of posts: 10 posts at $40 each, 25 at $35, 50 at $30, 100 at $25. The whole budget is charged when you create the campaign, and the pack cannot be refunded once bought. This is where “$25 a video” comes from, and it comes with a $2,500 commitment.
Here is what ten usable videos cost on the free plan, assuming you order twelve because two will miss, at the $60 default, with a $25 product bought through reimbursement.
| Line | Amount |
|---|---|
| 12 videos at $60 | $720 |
| Platform fee, 15% | $108 |
| Card fee, 3.5% | $29 |
| 12 products at $25 plus 10% sales tax | $330 |
| Total | $1,187 |
| Per usable video | about $119 |
Take the product out, because you would ship one to a Billo creator too, and twelve JoinBrands attempts cost $857 against $990 for ten vetted videos on Billo. JoinBrands is cheaper. It is not three times cheaper, which is what the two pricing pages read side by side would suggest, and the gap closes further once you count the hours you spend reviewing applicants. We ran the same ten-video sum for every platform in our ranking of the best UGC marketplaces.
Compare the flat-price option
Billo charges from $99 a video with no percentage fee, no card fee and no subscription, and the creator has already been vetted. If the arithmetic above lands close for you, the vetting is the tiebreaker.
Creators: who they are and how much you pay for experience
The pool is open. Anyone can download the creator app, pass a certification for the content type they want to offer, and start applying. There is no follower minimum, which is right for UGC, and no portfolio review before the first job, which is where the quality variance comes from.
What JoinBrands has instead of vetting is a level system built on delivery record, and it changes your price.
- Level 1 is every new creator. Up to five jobs at once.
- Level 2 needs 5 completed video, social or live jobs, at least one in the last twelve months, and an average rating of 4.0 or better. Level 2 creators cost 50% more on videos and 30% more on images.
- Level 3 needs 30 completed jobs, 5 in the last twelve months, and a 4.3 average. Level 3 costs 100% more on basic videos, 150% more on advanced videos and 60% more on images.
So the $60 default is a Level 1 video. The same brief from a Level 3 creator is $120, and $150 for an advanced edit, before the fee. That is the honest comparison with Billo’s $99 and Insense’s $100, because those are vetted creators and a Level 3 on JoinBrands is the nearest equivalent.
Geographically the pool is United States first. The reimbursement sales tax table covers the US, Canada, the UK, Germany and Australia, which is a fair guide to where the creators are. If you need a European accent, JoinBrands is thin, as Billo is, and Insense or Collabstr are where the choice is.
From the creator side, the economics explain the brand-side complaints. PayPal is the only payout method, withdrawals are weekly, a Level 1 creator is working for $60 minus nothing (the fee is on the brand) but also buying your product up front on reimbursement jobs. Reviews from creators on both app stores are mostly positive about payouts and support, and the one-star cluster is about jobs vanishing within minutes of an invitation and invitations landing in spam. Those are the same jobs that, from your side, look like a creator who accepted and went quiet.
Rights, revisions and what you cannot get back
Rights. The pricing page says “unlimited usage rights” and the homepage says you “own 100% licensing and distribution rights”. The terms frame it as an irrevocable, royalty-free licence to use and exploit the content, granted on full payment. For ads, your site and your socials that is the same thing in practice, and it is cleaner than Collabstr, where rights are per listing. Posting jobs include the Spark Ads code or Instagram partnership ad code at no extra charge, which on Billo is an add-on.
One clause to know: content sold on JoinBrands “may be used by brands and by JoinBrands in AI tools, including training models and generating new content”, and that use is included in what the creator is paid. For most brands this is a non-issue. If your legal team has a view on AI training, it is in the terms.
Revisions. You can request changes “as long as those changes fit within the scope of the original brief”, and out-of-scope requests go to the support team in chat. The help centre does not publish how many rounds you get. Third-party reviews quote plan-based limits, and they disagree with each other, so ask JoinBrands before you buy a plan on the strength of its revision count. As on Billo, a change of mind is a new job, not an edit.
Refunds. The refund policy is short and worth reading in full. Subscriptions are non-refundable. Blast packs are non-refundable. Extra content is non-refundable. A regular job is refundable only if it reaches Late Status, meaning the creator missed a timer, and you then cancel it yourself. The refund is credited to your JoinBrands account, not your card, and takes about ten days to show. Jobs where you shipped the product yourself are outside the policy entirely, because JoinBrands cannot verify delivery. And a reimbursement job cancelled after the creator has bought the product goes to mediation.
That last line is the one the worst reviews are about, and it is the structural weakness of the reimbursement model: you have paid for a product that is now in a stranger’s house, and the content has not arrived. JoinBrands mediates. It does not guarantee.
What the tooling does
For a platform at the cheap end, there is a lot of it, and most of it is aimed at sellers rather than at creative teams.
- Amazon shoppable videos. Creators with an Amazon Influencer account post the video to their storefront, tagged to your ASINs, and keep it live for 14 days. Base $100 a video. For an Amazon seller this is the feature that justifies the account.
- TikTok Shop. Shop videos and livestreams, with the product tag checked before the creator is paid. Lives are billed per minute.
- Blast campaigns. Ten to a hundred posts from many creators at once, with a multi-content mode and performance bonuses. Volume for a launch, bought upfront.
- Outreach. On paid plans, direct messages and product cards to TikTok creators off the marketplace, with automated follow-ups on Pro and Max.
- Affiliate programme. Both for recruiting creators to sell on commission and, separately, a referral scheme paying 20% of JoinBrands’ own fees for a year on brands you send them.
- Integrations. Shopify, and an MCP server for driving campaigns from Claude, Cursor or VS Code, which is new for the category and useful if you run many campaigns.
What is not here is anything about the creative itself. No brief generator, no performance-based matching, no analytics tied to your ad account, no organic-first testing. Billo’s CreativeOps and Insense’s campaign tooling both do that work. JoinBrands assumes you know what you want and gives you volume.
What customers say, and who is saying it
JoinBrands’ Trustpilot profile holds a 4.4 TrustScore from 289 reviews: 82% five-star, 8% four, 2% three, 1% two and 7% one-star. The company replies to 88% of negative reviews, typically taking more than a month to do so. A majority of the reviews are from creators, which is normal for a marketplace and means the score is partly a measure of how creators feel about getting paid.
The praise from both sides is consistent: support resolves things fast, payouts are easy, and brands get content quickly. One creator describes “over 30 opportunities” and repeat jobs. Brand reviews on G2, where the platform holds 4.7 from 44 reviews with 88% five-star, add ease of use and the speed of getting “quality content at affordable prices”.
The complaints cluster on three things.
- Reimbursement risk. The clearest one-star review from a brand describes a creator who “can scam you out of cash” via the refundable sample: product bought and reimbursed, no content delivered. Another reports “$900 with zero content produced”.
- Billing disputes. A reported charge of $3,600 against an expected $1,800 for three creators, with the creators then unpaid. These are rare in the count and serious when they happen; the refund-to-balance policy means a billing error is settled in platform credit unless support intervenes.
- Jobs that evaporate. From creators: invitations that expire within minutes, emails in spam, jobs disappearing from the app. From brands, this is the applicant who accepts and never ships.
Independent testing is kinder than the one-star tail. EcomCrew found about 80% of jobs completed within a week and first content typically in three to seven days, and rates the platform highly for speed and price. The creator app holds 4.6 on the App Store from 883 ratings and 4.2 on Google Play from 198. Capterra has a single review at 3.0, which is a sample of one.
Pros and cons
Pros
- No subscription needed; a free plan with a 15% fee is the honest version of the product.
- Fastest stated turnaround in our ranking: 5 days for images, 10 for videos, with most done in a week.
- You set the price, and the $50 floor is the lowest of any platform we compared.
- Unlimited usage rights, with Spark Ads and partnership ad codes included.
- Ten-day review window before auto-approval, the longest here.
- Amazon shoppable videos, TikTok Shop lives and Blast packs that nobody else in the ranking offers in the same form.
- Escrow, so creators are paid only for what you approve.
Cons
- Open pool. You are the vetting, and reviewing applicants is the hidden cost.
- “$25+” on the pricing page versus a $50 minimum and $60 default in the builder.
- Fees stack: 8% to 15% on top, 3.5% for card, sales tax on reimbursements, level uplifts up to 150%.
- Subscriptions, Blast packs and extra content are non-refundable; job refunds go to platform credit.
- Reimbursement jobs put your product at risk before any content exists, with mediation rather than a guarantee.
- No creative tooling: no brief help, no performance matching, no ad analytics.
- US-centred pool, thin in Europe.
- AI-training clause on all content, if that matters to you.
Who JoinBrands is for
Use JoinBrands if you want a lot of clips cheaply and quickly to find out which hook works before you pay for polished versions; you sell on Amazon or TikTok Shop and want videos on storefronts rather than only in ads; you are prepared to spend an hour per campaign on applicants and to reject a delivery or two; or you have a $25 product you can afford to send to twenty people.
Look elsewhere if this is your first creator video and it has to be usable (Billo); you want the platform to carry quality control (Billo or Trend); you are running paid social at volume with someone managing creators (Insense); you want to pay a specific creator you have already found (Collabstr); or you need European creators as a rule.
JoinBrands vs Billo
- Price: JoinBrands from $50, default $60, plus 15% and card fee; Billo from $99, nothing on top. A Level 3 JoinBrands video at $120 to $150 costs more than Billo.
- Vetting: none on JoinBrands beyond certification and levels; Billo approves creators before they can take work and has a Premium tier.
- Speed: JoinBrands 5 to 10 days, most in a week; Billo 7 to 12 business days.
- Review window: JoinBrands 10 days; Billo 3 business days.
- Rights: both include paid usage; JoinBrands includes Spark and partnership codes, Billo sells them as add-ons.
- Refunds: JoinBrands refunds late jobs to platform credit; Billo’s packs expire after twelve months.
- Around the video: JoinBrands has Amazon, TikTok Shop, Blasts and outreach; Billo has a brief generator, performance matching, organic testing and ad analytics.
- Recent reviews: JoinBrands 4.4 on Trustpilot from 289, mostly creators; Billo 4.0 from 520, more brands.
Our ranking puts Billo first and JoinBrands fourth because most brands buying UGC are buying a video that has to work the first time, and the price gap between a vetted Billo video and a Level 3 JoinBrands video is small to negative. Where JoinBrands wins is volume, speed and storefront video, and that case is real. The full comparison is in our Billo review.
How to get a good result out of JoinBrands
- Start on the free plan. Upgrade when your monthly creator spend passes about $2,300, not before.
- Price above the default for anything that matters. A $50 job attracts Level 1 applicants. Filter for Level 2 and above and accept the uplift; a reshoot costs more.
- Ship it yourself for expensive products. Reimbursement is convenient and is where the losses happen. Keep reimbursement for products you can afford to lose.
- Write the hook, not the vibe. There is no brief generator here. Give the creator the first line, or three to choose from, and one job per video. Our guide to TikTok hooks is the shortlist.
- Order more than you need. Twelve for ten. The open pool means a miss rate, and the economics still work at that ratio.
- Put the ten-day review in a calendar. After that the creator is paid whether you looked or not.
- Keep a balance in mind. Refunds land in your JoinBrands wallet. Plan to spend them there.
And once the clips are yours, they are still raw material. The feed reads the first second and the watch time after it, and twenty cheap clips are only useful if you measure which hook held people and make the polished version of that one.
Frequently asked questions
How much does JoinBrands cost?
There is no required subscription. You set a price per job, with a $50 minimum for videos and a $60 default, and JoinBrands adds 15% on the free plan, 12% on Start-up ($99 a month), 10% on Pro ($299) or 8% on Max ($499), plus 3.5% if you pay by card. Blast packs bring the per-post price down to $25 at a hundred posts, paid upfront.
Is JoinBrands really $25 a video?
Only inside Blast campaigns, which are bulk packs charged in advance and non-refundable. For a regular UGC job the campaign builder sets a $50 floor and a $60 default, before the platform fee.
Does JoinBrands charge a platform fee?
Yes, 8% to 15% of every creator payment depending on your plan, and 3.5% for card payments. Billo and Trend charge nothing on top; Collabstr charges 5% to 10%; Insense 7% to 20%.
Do I own the content?
You get unlimited usage rights on anything you approve and pay for, framed in the terms as an irrevocable royalty-free licence. Ads, your site, your socials and email are all covered. The terms also allow the content to be used in AI tools.
How long does a JoinBrands video take?
Creators have 10 days for videos and 5 for images from receiving the product. EcomCrew found about 80% of jobs finished within a week. Add shipping or the 48-hour reimbursement purchase window, and your own review, which has a 10-day limit before auto-approval.
Are JoinBrands subscriptions refundable?
No. Subscriptions, Blast packages and extra content are all non-refundable. A regular job can be refunded only after it reaches Late Status and you cancel it, and the refund goes to your JoinBrands balance.
Is JoinBrands legit?
Yes. It has operated since 2021, holds a 4.4 TrustScore on Trustpilot from 289 reviews and 4.7 on G2, and pays creators through escrow. The one-star minority is about reimbursement jobs where the product was bought and no content arrived, and about billing disputes, not about the platform failing to exist.
Is JoinBrands good for creators?
It is free to join with no follower minimum, pays weekly through PayPal, and the level system raises your rate by 50% at Level 2 and up to 150% at Level 3. Creator reviews are mostly positive on payouts and support, with complaints about invitations that expire within minutes and about buying products up front on reimbursement jobs.
JoinBrands or Billo?
JoinBrands if you want many cheap clips fast and will do the vetting yourself, or if you sell on Amazon or TikTok Shop. Billo if you want a vetted creator and a flat price with nothing on top, and the first video has to be usable.
Verdict
JoinBrands scores 3.5 out of 5 in our review. It is the fastest and cheapest way in our ranking to get creator video made, the rights are clean, the timers are published and the review window is generous. It is also the platform where you do the most work and carry the most risk: the pool is open, the fees stack, the refunds come back as credit, and a reimbursement job puts your product in someone’s hands before any content exists.
Buy it for volume. Twenty clips to find a hook, storefront videos for Amazon and TikTok Shop, a Blast for a launch. For the one video that has to work, pay the vetted price elsewhere.
Our number 1 pick is Billo
Vetted creators, a flat price from $99, rights included and nothing added on top. For a first batch that has to be usable, it is the simpler buy.
