- A ready set of 5, the most TikTok allows
- 15 more ideas, sorted broad, niche and specific
- Free, no login, no email
Tap a tag to add it to your five or take it out.
We never suggest #fyp, #foryou or #viral. They say nothing about your video, and that is what TikTok reads hashtags for.
How the free TikTok hashtag generator works
This free TikTok hashtag generator turns a short description of your video into hashtags you can paste straight into your caption. You can start from a topic or from an account.
- Describe the video, or enter an account. A few words is enough, like “easy pasta in 10 minutes”. Or switch to the Account tab and enter a public TikTok username. We then read its bio and its latest captions.
- Get your five. The generator picks a ready set of five hashtags: one broad tag, two or three niche tags and one or two about this exact video.
- Swap and copy. Below your five you get 15 more ideas, sorted broad, niche and specific. Tap any tag to swap it in, then copy all five in one go.
An AI model picks the tags from your words. It does not read a database of view counts, so treat the tags as strong suggestions and search the ones you like on TikTok before you post. The tool is free, needs no login and never asks for your password.
How many hashtags can you use on TikTok?
Five. Since August 2025, TikTok stops you at five hashtags per post. Try to add a sixth and the app tells you that you can’t add more than five. TikTok never announced the change in a blog post, but creators everywhere hit the same limit. That is why this generator builds one set of five rather than a list of thirty.
Instagram followed in December 2025. Adam Mosseri announced a limit of five hashtags per post and Reel, down from 30. So five is now the number on both apps. The caption itself can still be long: TikTok allows up to 4,000 characters, so you have plenty of room to describe the video in words.
Which five hashtags should you choose?
With only five slots, every tag has to earn its place. A good set mixes three kinds.
- 1 broad tag The category, like
#foodtokor#gymtok. It is huge, so you won’t stand out in it, but it tells TikTok the general area. - 2 or 3 niche tags The community that watches this kind of video, like
#easyrecipesor#onepanmeals. These describe your video far better than any broad tag. - 1 or 2 specific tags This exact video, like
#creamypasta. Fewer people search them, but those who do want exactly what you made.
The generator builds your ready-made five from that mix. If a tag doesn’t fit your video, swap it for one from the lists below it.
Why the generator leaves out #fyp and #foryou
#fyp, #foryou and #viral sit on millions of videos, and they say nothing about yours. In its explanation of the For You feed, TikTok says it recommends videos based on how people interact with them and on video details such as captions, sounds and hashtags.
A hashtag helps when it tells TikTok what your video is about. #fyp can’t do that, so the generator never suggests it. It spends your five slots on tags that can.
Hashtags are only half of it: write the caption too
More and more people use TikTok like a search engine. They type “easy pasta recipe” into the search bar, and the words in your caption and on screen count, not only your hashtags. So put the words people would search into the first line of your caption, then add your five hashtags at the end.
Our guide to TikTok hashtags and captions goes deeper, with examples for each kind of video.
Where to put your hashtags
- In the caption, not in a comment. Tags in your caption describe the video. A comment full of tags does not do the same job.
- At the end of the caption. Lead with words a viewer reads, then add your tags.
- Different tags for different videos. One fixed set on every post tells TikTok nothing new. Run the generator for each video, or at least swap the specific tags.
- Only tags that are true. A popular tag that doesn’t match your video brings viewers who scroll straight past.
Hashtags help people find your video. Views make them stop.
Once your five tags are in, give the video a head start. TikFuel views start within five minutes, arrive gradually and never need your password.
Frequently asked questions
Is this TikTok hashtag generator really free?
Yes. There is no login, no email and no limit for normal use. We built it for creators who work on their own videos, the same people we sell to.
How many hashtags should I use on TikTok?
Up to five, because that is the most TikTok allows per post. Three to five tags that fit work better than five vague ones. The generator gives you a ready set of five, and you can drop any that don’t fit.
Can I generate hashtags from a TikTok account?
Yes. Switch to the Account tab and enter a public username or profile link. We read the bio and the latest captions, show the hashtags the account already uses and suggest a sharper set for the next video. We can’t read a private account.
Does #fyp help a video go viral?
No hashtag makes a video go viral. TikTok recommends videos based on how viewers respond to them. #fyp also says nothing about your content, which is why the generator never suggests it.
Are the suggested hashtags popular?
The generator suggests tags that people use for your topic, but it doesn’t check live view counts. Search a tag on TikTok to see how big it is and what kind of videos sit under it before you rely on it.
Do hashtags still matter on TikTok in 2026?
Yes, because they tell TikTok and searchers what your video is about. With only five slots, each tag counts for more than before. Your caption, the text on screen and the video itself matter at least as much.
Do you store what I type?
We keep the result for a short time, so the same question gets an answer faster, and we don’t link it to you. We never ask for a TikTok password.
